Additional Information

Interest Free Energy Efficiency Loans

Energy efficiency loans are intended to offer capital to replace or upgrade existing equipment with more energy efficient versions.

If you are any business in Wales, or a small or medium sized (SME) in England and Scotland, and have been trading for 12 months or more you may qualify to borrow between £5,000 and £1,000,000 interest free and unsecured, up to 4 years from the Carbon Trust.

Accelerated Tax Relief

The Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA) scheme rewards investment in energy saving systems on the Energy Technology List (ETL) with accelerated tax relief. Businesses may be able to claim 100% first year capital allowances and write off costs against taxable profits in the year of purchase. For more info visit www.eca.gov.uk/etl.

5% VAT for domestic installations

As announced on the 2005 budget year, with effect from April 2005 the installation of air source heat pumps in residential accommodation and some charity buildings will become subject to the reduced VAT rate of 5%.

This will provide a welcome reduction in cost to consumers installing heat pump air conditioning systems to domestic homes in the UK.

All heat pump systems currently supplied and fitted by Cross Air Conditioning to residential accommodation will be subject to the reduced rate.

The reduced VAT rate only applies to equipment which is both supplied and fitted to residential accommodation. Supply only equipment is still subject to the standard VAT rate.

Product and Services

Air Conditioning Products

The indoor units come in all shapes and sizes, some designed to fit on a wall, or ceiling, some hidden above a ceiling with air ducts connected, some half in/half out of the ceiling. It is perfectly feasible to require cooling in one room and heating in another, this can be achieved by fitting a multi split or a VRV/VRF.

Above you will find a selection of our most popular models, other models are available.

Heat Pumps

A heat pump system, like and air conditioning system, has an indoor unit/interconnecting pipes/outdoor unit, but it also has a reversing valve which pumps the refrigerant the other way around the circuit. This “reverse cycle” operation makes the outdoor unit cool the surrounding air, and the indoor unit discharge its heat into the room. Whilst this may appear very elaborate, there are two very good reasons for having the heat pump option:

A heat pump system capable of providing 7KW of heating in the room, consumes only 2KW of electricity – very cost effective on running costs. This means it is 2/7, or 28% of the running costs of an electric heater.

Inverter High Efficiency Systems

Inverter technology is now being used on all sorts of electrical products having electric motors. Instead of the motor switching on & off, the Inverter allows the motor to operate at different speeds, depending on the work it is required to do.

Most modern air conditioning/heat pump systems now have an Inverter has a standard feature, allowing the compressor motor speed to automatically adjust to the heating or cooling requirement in the conditioned room (which varies considerably during the course of the day). It also allows the motor to start at low speed, so there is no 'spike' in the electricity mains power supply. It also means small systems can be powered from a typical domestic power supply. However, the main benefits to the user are:
1. Reduced electricity costs,
2. More stable control of temperature.

Cross air conditioning can fit any of these systems, please feel free to e mail or call with any queries on product selection.
